Botox and Filler in Portland Oregon

Botox & Filler in Portland, Oregon

Sun damage, aging and gravity, as well as genetics, all play a role in what happens to the face as the years pass, and caring for your skin with aesthetic procedures can help.

Neuromodulators like botox and dermal fillers can improve the appearance of your skin, making it look more youthful and supple in a way that skincare products alone cannot achieve.

When you find that your skincare regimen is not giving the results you want and your skin has begun to look tired, wrinkled, or aged, it may be time to start considering a treatment with neuromodulator and/or filler.  We can help determine which is right for you.

BOTOX

Botox is the brand name of the first neuromodulator approved in the U.S. for the treatment of frown lines and wrinkles.  While there are 3 main neuromodulators on the market now, Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, “botox” is often the word used casually to describe all neuromodulators.  The right product selection depends on the area being treated and your own unique medical history.

Neuromodulators target the underlying cause of frown lines and crow’s feet that are caused by repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Injecting the facial muscles with a neuromodulator decreases those muscles’ activity. Improvements in appearance can be noticed almost immediately as lines and wrinkles begin to soften.  But it usually takes about 2 weeks to reach full effect.  Most people experience a return of muscle activity, and wrinkles, within 3-6 months.  It’s best to schedule your next treatment before the product completely wears off so the wrinkles don’t deepen or intensify, necessitating the use of more product at a subsequent visit.

FILLERS

Dermal fillers are a naturally-derived or synthetic material that is directly injected into skin with the purpose of plumping that area to the point where the wrinkle, depression, or fold is gone.

They are a great way to reduce wrinkles and scar depressions and plump areas of the face to give a fresher, more youthful appearance. The different types of dermal filler include collagen, hyaluronic acid, and calcium hydroxyl apatite.  When performed correctly, the results appear natural and fresh. The face and body naturally contain hyaluronic acid, but as we age, the levels of this substance decrease, leading to a lack of volume, deeper folds, and the appearance of lines. Lips may begin to thin and turn down at the corners, often leading to a tired, angry, or unhappy appearance.  Dermal filler, with or without PRP, is a great way to restore volume and vibrancy to the face!

How Can Neuromodulators & Fillers Help?

The appearance of aging skin is caused by a combination of many factors: cellular changes that happen as people age, reduction of collagen that begins as early as our 20’s and damage caused by the sun and environment. When a person frowns or squints, the muscles between the brows and around the eyes to contract, causing the skin to furrow and fold. Furthermore, the physiological reduction in collagen and antioxidant production, loss of fat and thinning of skin that happens as we age can make the face look more wrinkled and saggy.  Botox and fillers work beneath the skin’s surface to address wrinkles and to restore volume.
